iTunes 8, iPod Nano 4g, iPod touch: Apple Event



Here we are, a quick recap of the last Apple event:

iTunes 8:

New features:
  • New browsing by cover
  • Genius playlist: Automatically make playlists from songs in your library that go great together taking care of what you normally listen
  • Genius Apple Store: Apple will take your anonimous information to show in the genius sidebar the kind of music you may like on the store.

iPod Nano 4g:

(the same we already know)

$149 for the 8GB model, $199 for the 16GB model

New features:
  • New UI: The new UI has longer menus, icons next to songs and full sized album art. Photos and video can be displayed in landscape mode. If you push and hold the center button, you get a pop-up menu with Genius, add to on-the-go, browse album and browse artist. Similar to the scheme you have in the iPod Touch/iPhone now.
  • Accelerometer
  • Shake to Shuffle: It's clear, isn't it?
  • Thinnest iPod ever
  • Battery life: 24 hours music, 4 hours video.
  • Genius Playlist directly on the iPod
  • New Colour: Black, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, violet

iPod Touch:



Jobs showed new games with 3D graphics (Gizmodo talks about PS1 graphic level).

The 8GB is $229, 16GB is $299 and 32GB is $399.

New features:
  • Thinner with a contoured steel design
  • 2.1 Software with Nike+ and Genius Playlist creation
  • Inegrated Volume controls
  • Built-in speaker

iPod Classic:


A memory upgrade for the entry level, now with 120gb, that become the only one available at 249$.
