Here it is:
www.ign.com
I started to follow this site when was only an indie site, in 1996. I was 13 and I was looking for Nintendo 64 info on the net, at the beginning the name of the sites was ign64.
Now is one of the most seen videogames site on the net with more than 20million of contacts every month. I think that during all those years it lost a lot of his appeal becoming a huge commercial site. His reviews are not so significant like in the past. Anyway is still very meaningful for the worldwide videogamers community.
www.gamespot.com
Born before IGN, in the early beginning was a pc based site, becoming a multiplatform one only later. VideoGameSpot.com was the name of the console section before becoming an all-in-one site in the 1997 keeping the most known pc section domain. Like IGN, Gamespot is one of the most followed videogames site in the net.www.gametrailers.com
IGN vs Gamespot is a classic match for the videogamers community, their reviews are very meaningful and gamespot is usually the parsimonious one on voting.
A big black spot for the gamespot carrier was the Gerstmann scandal born from the video review of Eidos’ Kane & Lynch. This situation uncovered the old known problem of a sponsor and fair review.
More recent if compared with the others two giants, is the most updated sites for video, trailers, comparison between multiplatform game and more. Is a must, particurarly in the hot periods like E3 or the Tokyo Games Show. Often it offers a good selection of exclusive and during the passed year it introduced HD video streaming, video reviews and users generated contents.www.qj.net
A very young agglomerate of videogame, gadget, WoW and more news. Pick your favourite console and start reading fresh, is one of the most updated videogames news' site.www.gamekyo.com
Born from the French site Jeuxfrance, fresh news and an eye on japanese games.
The only problem: is in french.
www.gamersyde.com
I started to follow this site when was divided in two section, Ps3 and Xbox360 (I use to see the Xbox site). Now is an only one site with screenshots and video, not always uber updated but I like his minimalist style.www.neogaf.com
One of the largest and most followed videogamers' community on the net. A lot of interesting people post there and often they discuss news before to find them around.Even if the paper is now considered vintage, two walking bible are still around for the videogames industry: Edge and Famitsu. Their votes are still now a point of reference and are good for all the community's console wars out there.
A good resource for everyone that want to understand well this world.
