A video technique that I always liked is stop motion.
One of the most representative movie is Tim Burton's (The) Nightmare Before Christmas (1993).
How it works?
Is a frame by frame animation where every shot is a little bit different from the other one.
In every shot the object that is moving will do little steps on the direction is going through.
It takes time and you need patience but in the end the results are satisfying.
I always liked it because is a simple way to build a short movie idea , you only need a camera, a lot of fantasy, some cool music and an editing software. For example:
This is a kind of human skin cartoon which is very funny and well done.
This example is a professional surrealistic view of a spaghetti dish. The huge number of pics taken for every movement let everything look so fluid. A masterpiece:
